I know it is simulated in HFSS, FEKO, etc....however, can one meaure SAR in a real live setting? If so, how?

Also, how does HFSS and FEKO calculate/sumulate SAR? Do they use the same equation/technique?

Thanks.

SAR in real life is measured with complicated probes, hovering over objects that are designed to look like the average human head or body. The objects are filled with special liquids that are designed to approximate the dielectric constant and loss of the corresponding human body part.

As for how FEKO or HFSS do it, I imagine they estimate the electric field in an object, figure out the power dissipated from the conductivity of the object, and report that to you. I have no idea how similar the two methods are. I would guess HFSS is more accurate though, because it does volume meshing, whereas FEKO is MoM which uses surface meshing primarily.
