does an powered antenna directed at the ground at the appropriate elevation creates a standing wave?

it creates constructive and destructive interference in the air, so yes It does create standing waves. A bit like fading in multipath environments. It can also creates standing waves in the antenna feed, but the level of the reflected signal will normally be greatly reduced at any reasonable distance from the antenna.

Both and more the exact amount dependent on the materials, wavelength and angle of incidence.

hello,
please tell me, with an antenna as complex as the antenna in the integratron what can you see with your expert eyes. it is 180 concentric "split ring resonators" (wire antennas) 90 in the horizontal plane and 90 in the vertical. it is powered by a 1MV tesla coil (ultra wide band RF transmitter). the attachment of the tesla coil is on the second last outer split ring. it looks to me like the most widest wideband RF generator ever made, what do you think? it is like a Yagi with 178 director elements and one reflector element. this is a link to the picture of it without the 90 vertical elements & without the tesla coil as you can see this is a yagi directed into the ground and so a standing wave and other anomalies would result https://farm8.static.flickr.com/7114/6902954002_9c38ae63e1_b.jpg
thank you,
