Hi,
Can anyone tell me what effect does the width of the microstrip antenna have on the radiation pattern and gain and any other parameters of a microstrip antenna. Assume any kind of feed line.
Thanks |

Primarily, the width controls the impedance of the microstrip antenna. The wider it is made, the lower the impedance is. A square microstrip or patch antenna fed at the end would have an impedance of about 200 or so Ohms. If it was made much wider (for a given length), the impedance can be reduced to 50 Ohms, over a small bandwidth. The efficiency and directivity don't change much. |
