Good morning everybody
I would like to know, in the effective aperture formula, what is the position of the considered E field (in power density Sinc) w.r.t the receiving antenna. Is it impinging the antenna or is it for away from it, since the antenna gain G is used (far field assumption).
Many thanks in advance for your reply |

The effective aperture relates the power in an electromagnetic wave at the antenna relative to the power radiated or received.
So, if you are talking about a receive antenna, then the quantity of interest is the electric field magnitude at the antenna that is receiving the wave. It doesn't matter if it was transmitted with 20 W from far away or 2000 kW from even further, you are only capturing the available power at the receive antenna.
