First, the substrate and the thickness of it will be determined by you, actually the properties of the substrate will give you the thickness and the εr (relative permittivity) of the substrate. - Find the wavelength for you frequency in a free space. - find the width using the equation from Balanis (14-6); - Determine the effective dieletric constrant using (14-1) - Find the extend incremental of the patch using (14-2). - Find the actual length (14-3) - Find the effective length (14-3) That is it for your patch, now you have to be concerned about the feeding method. probe, feed line, etc. For probe I do recommend balanis also, where can help you match the impedance by adjusting the distance of the probe . Hope it helps, really recommend you to get Balanis will be easier
