My friend shared this product with me that he bought:

My only hypothesis was it could be used as a parasitic element that makes the antenna beam pattern more directional. Then, you could orient your antenna toward a tower for better signal strength.

Any ideas? Is this totally bogus?

It is complete crap. If a $3 piece of crap would improve reception, why wouldn't cell phone makers invest the 2 cents it takes to produce and install it themselves?

100% none of these products work. The sellers should be fined/jailed.

I contacted Amazon to let them know they are selling a product that makes fraudulent claims. I doubt they'll respond but if they do I will post the response.
