I am taking care of a 3 story brownstone in Brooklyn and there is an antenna on the roof with a 4 wire cable that comes inside a window and ends with two exposed wires and two wires connected to an old fashioned tv antenna connector.
I believe it is not grounded.
The end of the cable is just sitting behind the table where the old tv sat.
I have no need to use the antenna.
Is this a potential atrractor of lightening?
The closest buildings that are taller are about 150 yards away. |

Yes, the antenna can attract lightning, although if it does not rise significantly higher than the rest of your rooftop it may not notably increase the probability of your building getting struck.
That said, if you're not using the antenna, you are better off getting rid of the cables running into your home. |
