Gain is the ratio of the power transmitted in a certain direction relative to that of an antenna that radiates power equally in all directions.
So if an antenna has a directional radiation pattern, then in the direction of maximum radiation for instance, more power will be radiated relative to the isotropic antenna.
This "increased relative energy" is the gain. It's not a power amplification. Hope this helps |
