Hi guys, I need some engineering help here please

Okay heres what I have:

- 3G router Huawei B683 that has a SMA connector for an external aerial.
- Yagi antenna mounted on the roof that was used as a TV aerial by previous owners

Can I use this Yagi to boost my 3G?

This isn't really engineering....

But your Yagi probably operates reasonably well at the low band of cell frequencies (800+900 MHz). It probably isn't designed to work at the high band (1800+1900MHz). So it depends on how the Yagi does at the cell frequencies. I assume your Yagi does typical TV frequencies, which are around 300-700 MHz.

I can't tell you which band your 3G operates on, even if I knew the carrier. But, you can rig it up, point it at your nearest cell phone tower, and see if the bars on your cell phone go up. It's worth a shot, but not guaranteed.
