The subject of NFC antennas has been cropping up from time to time in emails to me, so I put a page up that explains the basics. I'm not an NFC antenna designer, but I know enough to give the overview. NFC antennas, as you'll read, are not really antennas at all, but inductors that make use of mutual coupling:
