Hello ,

I am a new member to your Forum. As an experienced Antenna Engineer,I find this site very intuitive.

I am working on a project for a Transmitting Phased Array Antenna for X Band. My problem is how to Calibrate the Antenna with Transmitters ( Transmitter Out Put Power at Each Element is 300 W) .

Are there any books or papers that discuss in detail with this specific Topic.

I'm not sure what you mean....you're trying to figure out how to get power to the array or how to vary the phases between the elements or ?

X-band, I guess 10 GHz? Are you working with a slotted waveguide array? 300W is pretty high. That's related to military applications probably?

Hello ,

Thanks for your reply .

Yes you are right . Its for a military application ( Radar ) . The Antenna would be used as a transmit mode .

For initial calibration ( vary the phases of each element so as to get beam in a desired direction ), The Antenna would be tested in a receive mode in anechoic chamber.

When we finally use the Antenna as a Transmit mode , I intend to use the phase values of the receiving Antenna as the starting point . However the phase values would not be the same for final calibration (With Power amplifiers, Cables ) . We probably then have to do another round of tuning the phase values at the final customer site .

What i am looking for is a literature ( probably Radar Books ) which deals with how to calibrate the Antenna ( Vary the Phases ) when used as an transmit mode.

Thanks
Jagan
