Anyone knows why is there a null in dipole's radiation pattern. Lets say there is a dipole oriented along z axis. I understand that the way the H_phi and the E_theta are distributed the cross product and therefore the Poynting vector is zero along the z axis. However, I am not sure exactly what is the underlying physics?
