Hi there,
I was wondering what impact (if any) the conductor thickness has in a patch antenna. For example, will an antenna with a 1 mm thick aluminium radiating element have similar gain to the same antenna made with a 0.01 mm thick element of the same material?
I guess the thicker radiator has more charges sloshing about, so more sources of radiation in total, but the electrons on the interior are effectively shielded by the electrons on the surface of the material, so maybe only electrons on the surface contribute to the radiation?
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks |
