I was wondering whether a dual linear polarised antenna (where you temporally switch transmission between orthogonal polarisations) has any advantages/disadvantages over true circular polarisation?
For example, if you had a dual linear antenna of 7 dBi gain and a circular one of 7 dBiC, would it be true that the dual linear would perform better along the polarisation axes (as all the power is going to one of the polarisations at a time, and assume the switching is rapid enough for the application), and would be equivalent to circular at the 45 degree intermediate angles (due to 3dB polarisation mismatch), so overall you could argue that it performs better?
Hopefully this makes sense |
