| How would you go about determining the equivalent circuit of a planar antenna so that you are able to simulate it in SONNET or ANSOFT? |

There are a few ways depending on what type of antenna it is.
If you have a simple half-wavelength dipole antenna, you can assume a resistor of 70 Ohms and some inductance (impedance is about 73 + j43 ohms) depending on the frequency.
If you have a complicated antenna, you can measure it on a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) to get the impedance and then make a simple circuit.
Generally you will have some resistance (for radiation resistance + loss resistance) and either some capacitance or inductance in series. |
