is wire antenna a good option if you have the space ?

Hi,
I intend to use a wire monopole antenna for EU gsm/umts network.
As from theory I have to cut a piece of wire to approximately the size of 1/4th the wavelength.
My question is that my frequencies are 2. (800MHz and 1800MHz).
So in which length should the wire be cut to cover both bands ?

You have to cut it for the longer wavelength (800 MHz). Then make it super fat, like a bowtie antenna, and it will probably cover both bands.
