I'm going over the math on the page:

http://www.antenna-theory.com/tutorial/waveguides/waveguides2.php

and I think there are some mistakes when you discuss the zeroing out of
constants based on the boundary conditions. Specifically, when you
talk about the constant c3, you accidentally refer to it as c4. Look at
the discussion below where you talk about the boundary condition:

Ex(x, y=b, z)=0 [10]

Similarly, I think there is a mistake when talking about c2 and c1 and
the boundary conditions:

Ey(x=0, y, z)=0

Ey(x=a, y, z)=0

For Ey = 1/eta(dFz/dx)

at x=0.0, the c1*cos(kx*x) becomes c1*sin(kx*x) which is 0 at x = 0. So it
is the c2 term that should be 0.

Thanks.

Wow, those were both good catches. I updated the page so that it now refers to the correct constants. Thank you very much.

I think there are a few more problems. On the next page:

http://www.antenna-theory.com/tutorial/waveguides/waveguides3.php

for Ex in equation [1] you have:

Ex = ...cos()*cos()..

but it should be:

Ex = ...cos()*sin()..

Thanks.

Thanks again. I fixed the mistake.
