Good morning everybody.
I have a question related to UWB antenna requirements:
In addition to the impedance and to the radiation pattern, it is said that we should consider the phase response. The antenna must have a linear phase response across the ultra wide bandwidth. This in order to prevent from distorsion.
But i don't know what this phase means. I understand for a filter but not for an antenna (since there is no input/output). Is it the phase of the S11 parameter? I only see this one.
Many thanks in advance |

| Who says the antenna should have a "linear phase response"? |

| I read it in few communications and papers that deal with this subject |

i have finally found the setup measurement of such parameter and hence what it is exactly. We have to compute/measure the S21 parameter between a pair of such antennas (and removing some delay contributors such as propagation medium, balun, etc.).
Hope it can help someone else. |
