HTC One has an almost entirely aluminum back for their new flagship smartphone.

They write "For example, during product development, we had to solve the problem of making an antenna work under a metal phone casing. We figured out how to manufacture a phone from a single piece of aluminum. "

Now, if you are an avid antenna theory reader, or understand the concepts of antennas at 800 MHz, you would know the antenna doesn't work "under the metal phone casing" as they claim. Rather, the antenna has to BE the metal phone casing. You need 5-6" of length to get a decent antenna, along with some sort of separation between the two arms of the dipole that makes up your antenna.

Hence, the HTC One phone has the small white gap on either end of the product - this line indicates the feed point for the upper antenna (diversity cellular, wifi, gps, etc) and the lower antenna (primary cellular antenna).

Overall, this is a pretty impressive antenna design, as the housing constrains the antenna very strictly. However, note that the aluminum back is the antenna - despite any marketing propaganda they may throw out there.
