I have no experience building anything at these frequencies, but it does seem like it becomes harder to consider the antenna(s) in isolation in the same way as at lower frequencies. The electronics an ...

Antennas are reciprocal. So the Tx gain and Rx gain patterns are equal.

Yes you get side lobes and nulls with dish antenna. But they are small for dishes that are large compared to the wavelength.

Because RF behaves as waves. The gain is caused by the constructive interference of the waves being reflected off the dish. The less wavelengths the less sharp the constructive interference.

Don't ...

The shape and focus of an parabolic antenna is independent of frequency.

A narrowband antenna can act as a filter against strong out of band signals that could saturate the first amplification stage of your rx. A narrow band antenna may give you more options to select a ch ...

Sounds possible to me, but construction would be significantly more difficult.

Yes reciprocity holds. It is the same if you swap the Tx and Rx.

I am not aware of a general solution.

Antenna engineers usually rely on there knowledge of prior art as a starting point and build/test/simulate from there.

There is however much more to antenna ...

I am thinking of making a system which can generate a antenna for a given input radiation pattern, that is, we draw a radiation pattern we desire and the system churns out a antenna design which can a ...

A ferrrite antenna is just a version of a small loop antenna. The ferrite makes the behavior non linear at higher power levels so these antennas are only really useful as receivers. Normally they are ...

Just to add a bit more to my last comment.

Its fairly normal to acheive dual polarisation this way. Although there is a DC short between the 2 feed pins at the operating frequency(looks like 5ghz t ...

The two antenna ports provide different polarisation. The WiFi router can exploit this using MIMO techniques to increase data capacity. I.e.You have 2 channels with polarisation divesity.
